PennDOT is extending expiration dates, for Driver’s Licenses, Photo ID Cards, and Learner’s Permits that expire from March 16, 2020 through August 31, 2020, to August 31, 2020.
Due to a waiver received by the Department of State, a notary may accept an expired PA Driver’s License or an expired PA Photo ID Card with an expiration date from March 16, 2020 through August 31, 2020, if the date of the notarization is not after August 31, 2020. In the journal, the notary should record the actual issue and expiration dates of the identification and note, “pursuant to COVID waiver approved 5/26/20”.
Note: If PennDOT approves a future extension, the waiver will allow notaries to accept expired PA Driver’s Licenses and expired PA Photo ID Cards through that future date. The waiver is limited to PennDOT-issued Driver’s Licenses and PennDOT-issued Photo ID Cards.
