The fax number to use when requesting authorization from PennDOT to extend the expiration for a temporary registration has changed. The new fax number is 717-265-7591 to request an authorization code from PennDOT to extend a temporary registration card.
Forms MV-1, MV-4ST, and MV-120 provide the applicant with 90 days to drive a vehicle with the pink copy of the temporary registration card. If a Pennsylvania title application, transfer of plate or decentralized transaction associated with Form MV-120 is not processed within 90 days from the date of issue on the MV-1, MV-4ST or MV-120, and the application was not rejected for additional fees, the same Agent Service that issued the temporary registration card may request authorization to extend the temporary registration by faxing information to PennDOT’s Regulated Client Service Unit at the new fax number 717-265-7591. Insurance information for the client must be re-verified before requesting an extension of the registration card. An Agent Service cannot extend a temporary registration card or issue another temporary registration permit without first obtaining approval from PennDOT.
PennDOT will review the request to extend the temporary registration card and if approved will call or Fax an authorization number to the Agent Service’s office. If the extension of the temporary registration card is granted by PennDOT, the Agent Service must complete another MV-1, MV-4ST or MV-120, write the authorization code in the upper right corner and fax it to PennDOT.
The Agent Service provides the applicant with the second pink copy of the MV-1, MV-4ST or MV-120 that has the authorization number written in the upper right corner.
