The 40th Senatorial District will move from Allegheny and Butler counties to Monroe and Northampton counties as a result of the 2012 legislative reapportionment plan.
Beginning March 19, the Pa. Department of State and the state Senate will shift all districts, including the 40th for notary endorsement purposes only.
Because of the 40th District move, it will be listed as vacant on the Pa. General Assembly Web site beginning on March 19. However, surrounding new districts (14, 16, 18, 20 and 22) will serve for purposes of senator notary endorsements. Paper notary applications for the 40th District can be sent to any of these districts; online notary applications will be redirected by the Department of State to Senator Pat Browne’s office in the 16th District.
Redirecting notary applications will occur from March 19 to December 1, 2014, when a new officeholder for the 40th District is expected to be officially certified.
Following the General Election in November, the Department of State will change the notary online process to reflect the new officeholder for the 40th District as well as other newly elected senators in other districts.
The Department of State encourages applicants to use the “Who’s My Legislator” link on the General Assembly Web site to determine which senator should endorse their notary application.:
