Allegheny County Council adopted a new schedule of fees and charges for services performed by the Allegheny County Department of Real Estate, formerly the Recorder of Deeds. The fee for county notaries to record a bond, take the oath of office and register a signature has increased to $80, effective January 1, 2013.
County Executive Rich Fitzgerald approved the measure.
Allegheny County notaries must take cash, a money order or a check payable to “Allegheny County Department of Real Estate.” Credit cards are not accepted.
Remember: before you go to the office, you and a witness need to sign the front of your bond. In addition, take your power of attorney with you. The deputy at the office will administer your oath and take the bond from you.
Your notarial commission will be mailed to you by the Department of Real Estate. However, you become a notary the moment you are sworn in.
