State Sen. Michael O’Pake died Monday, Dec. 27 in Reading Hopsital. The Berks County statesman had been recovering from complications suffered during heart surgery.
O’Pake represented the city of Reading and surrounding areas.
He was the longest-serving member in the Pennsylvania General Assembly and had been reelected as Democratic Whip in the Senate for the 2011-12 legislative term.
A special election will be held to fill Sen. O’Pake’s seat. Until a new senator is named, PAN is sending Berk County notary applications to Sen. Andy Dinniman of Chester County.
