More than 600 Pennsylvania attorneys have earned continuing legal education (CLE) credits through PAN’s First Time Notary, Everyday Notary Challenges or Reappointment seminars. Each seminar is worth three credit hours.
According to Lorraine Schell, of the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education (PACLE) Board, attorneys in the Commonwealth have a 12-credit continuing education hour requirement each year.
PAN became an accredited CLE provider in 2001 after undergoing an application process in which the board determined that the seminars are of related importance to attorneys.
The First Time Notary Seminar is state-approved and fulfills the three-hour state mandatory education provision for new notaries. The course includes the Notary Public Law, official notarial powers, notarial seal and register, and acceptable forms of identification. The Everyday Notary Challenges Seminar is offered in conjunction with the First Time Notary Seminar and covers problem documents, wills, powers of attorney, and mortgages.
For reappointing notaries, the Notary Reappointment Seminar is a three-hour morning seminar focusing on a review of the nine steps of notarization, the seven notary powers including a hands-on workshop on affidavits and acknowledgments, problem and complex documents.
However, PAN’s Online course is not approved for CLE credit.
Each seminar is $64. Attorneys who wish to earn three CLE credits simply add $15 to the overall cost of the seminar.
