As of October 26, 2017, renewing Pennsylvania notaries who have a lapse in their commissions (even just one day) or do not get sworn into office within 45 days from the date their commission begins, will be required to take the notary examination. And while the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries (PAN) is working on creating test study guidelines for our members, we currently do not know what types of questions will be on the test.
“If you are a person who enjoys the challenge of taking a test, let your commission lapse and don’t get sworn into office on time,” said Brian Dowd, manager of PAN’s Education Department. “PAN recommends that all notaries sign up for our Everyday Notary Challenges seminar, which includes an exam study component.”
It’s important for members of the Association to keep PAN up-to-date with their mailing and E-mail addresses so PAN’s reappointment reminders will reach them.
PAN begins sending out reappointment reminders 10 months prior to each member’s commission expiration. If you have a change in mail or E-mail address, please let PAN know by E-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
