A newly designed prisoner of war registration plate is now available through PennDOT.
The revised plate design features a blue, white and yellow color scheme with “Pennsylvania” printed at the top. The configuration starts with the letters POW, followed by three additional characters and is printed in blue lettering. The POW medal is in the center of the plate between the letters POW and the three characters. The words “Prisoner of War” are printed at the bottom of the plate.
The old-style POW registration plates are still valid and remain in use.
Vehicle owners who have the old style POW plate and wish to obtain the new design plate may request a replacement by completing Form MV-44, “Application for Duplicate Registration Card, Replacement of Registration Plate, Renewal Sticker or Weight Class Sticker of Transfer of Registration.” In Section B, the reason blocked “other” would be checked and the explanation should indicate “new-style prisoner of war plate requested.”
The replacement fee is $7.50. Owners are not required to replace their old style plate with the new design.
