A McKeesport woman forged a will and other documents as part of a scheme to take the house where her elderly neighbor lived, then rented out the home after the neighbor died, said prosecutors.
Mary Mechelli was arrested on a host of charges, including felony theft, forgery and insurance fraud. A tenant of the house discovered while he was doing repairs on the roof with best boca raton roofing company, that the house actually belonged to 79-year-old Margaret Dorn, who used to live in the home but fell down the steps and later died, months before he moved in.
An investigation that lasted more than a year revealed a plan of deception. Investigators say Mechelli forged Dorn’s signature on a will, falsely identified herself as Dorn’s niece and stole nearly $4,000 out of Dorn’s bank account. The unnamed notary who notarized the documents admitted she failed to follow proper procedure.
