Notaries Must Provide Some Free Services to Military Personnel

When it comes to pension applications and other military service related paperwork, notaries must provide their services free to any soldier, surviving spouse, orphan of a soldier and parents of a soldier.

Section 9101 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes states “any person authorized to take acknowledgments and administer oaths” are to perform such services free of charge ….  ”for the purpose of obtaining pensions and all other papers connected with and referring to the military service of any ex-service person.”
