The Northumberland County Pronothonary’s Office instituted a new procedure for Northumberland County notaries taking their oaths of office.
Notaries are now required to place their notary rubber stamp seal on their signature cards. A spokesperson from the Prothonotary’s Office told the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries that having the notary sign their signature card and place their seal on the card serves as a double verification of their identity (wet signature and stamp with commission expiration date).
This procedure change began on June 11, 2009.
